How can I get a beef harvest date?

  • Beef share orders for a quarter cow, half cow and full cow are taken by reservations for harvest dates.

  • Please fill out the reservation request form with your contact information, beef package request and finishing preference.

  • We will respond as soon as possible with our next available harvest date based on your requests and to answer any questions you may have.

  • If that date works for you, we will add you to the list for the harvest date and will mail you an invoice for your deposit in the coming days to the address you provided.

Pay Your Deposit

How do deposits work?

  • Deposit amounts are based upon what beef package you have requested.

  • Your spot is NOT confirmed until your deposit is paid.

  • Once we have received your deposit, you will receive an email with a copy of your Paid Deposit Invoice. This email is confirmation of your spot for the scheduled harvest date that’s listed on your invoice.

  • Your deposit amount will be deducted from your final total.

What do I need to do after I pay my deposit?

  • Nothing! That’s just one of the many benefits of choosing our beef!

  • If you purchase a quarter cow, there is nothing more you need to do once your deposit is paid. We uses a standard cut list for all quarter cow orders: 2-3 lbs roast per package and 1” steaks with 1-2 steaks per package. This way each family will receive equal and all available beef cuts.

  • If you purchase a half or whole cow, you are able to customize your cuts: pounds of roast, thickness of steaks and how many per package. Please complete your cut sheet at fallingsunranch.com/beefcutsheet at least 1 week before your harvest date.

Fill Your Freezer

What happens after processing is complete?

  • Beef is usually ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after your harvest date.

  • We will deliver your beef to your home (within 35 miles of the ranch), meet at a pre-arranged location (within 35 miles of the ranch) or you can pick up at the ranch or at the processor’s.

  • Remaining balances are due at time of delivery or pick up. Your deposit amount will be deducted from your final total.

What’s the difference between grass finished and grain finished beef?

Grass vs Grain Finished

Grass Finished

Cattle spend their whole lives eating grass, forage, and hay all the way up until beef harvest. Grass finished beef will be more lean with fewer calories due to its overall lower fat content. It will have an earthy, stronger beef flavor compared to grain finished cattle. A few months prior to harvest, cattle are moved to a different pasture to ensure they will not have access to grain.
